Patricia Clendening is a Global Professional in Human Resources (GPHR) and a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR). She recently achieved SHRM-SCP and was the first in Delaware with this competency based certification. She has over 30 years experience in Human Resources management with major corporations including Trane, Ingersoll Rand, AlliedSignal, Honeywell, Crothall American, Wolf D. Barth, and Wawa, Inc. She has held a variety of Coaching, Change Management, Strategic Planning, Training and Development, and Employee Relations roles within these organizations. Patricia was the recipient of Associated Builders and Contractors Associate Supplier of the Year Award, Delaware Valley Human Resources Consultant of the Year Award, Ron Shane HR Lifetime Achievement Award. In addition she was invited to participate in Delaware’s Business Leader Roundtable with Presidential Candidate Mitt Romney and meets with legislators in Dover and on Capitol Hill regularly.
Patricia’s most recent corporate roles included Manager of Human Resources at Wawa, Inc. and Assistant Human Resources Manager at AlliedSignal, Inc. At Wawa, Patricia supported the aggressive growth of Wawa’s retail operation through the reorganization of corporate Human Resources Department and the Dairy, Warehouse and Distribution Center. She established a new Human Resources team, developed recruiting and assimilation processes, and developed policies and practices that supported the company’s business plan. She was instrumental in developing and implementing the strategic planning process for senior management. At senior management’s request, Patricia led the Change Management team for the company’s twenty-six million dollar Automated Storage and Retrieval System project that improved Wawa’s process accuracy to 99.9%.
At AlliedSignal, Inc., Patricia served over nine years in progressively more challenging Human Resources Roles. She led a significant change management effort contributing to a culture change nationwide. As the corporate Wellness Steering Committee Leader, she directed the efforts of a large team in the coaching and development of leaders while implementing wellness intervention programs throughout the Fortune 100 Company.
Patricia’s professional affiliations include the Society for Human Resource Management as State Council Director, President and Board member of Delaware SHRM; New Castle County Chamber of Commerce, member of the Professional Development Committee; National Association of Woman’s Business Owners, Secretary of the Delaware State Chapter; Associated Builders and Contractors, Chairperson of the Diversity Committee and a member of the Education and Training and Health, Safety and Wellness Committees; Manchester’s Who’s Who; and the Business Advisory Council’s Honorary Chairman for Delaware. While volunteering in many capacities throughout the aforementioned professional organizations, Patricia has been requested to provide training workshops and speaking engagements throughout the region.
Throughout Patricia’s career, she has been a catalyst for community relations. She has lead United Way Campaigns, Adopt-A-Family Programs, Operation Warmth, Social Services Industry Fair in addition to the Tournament for Troops charities. She has been instrumental in completing the Ronald McDonald House Project, and has been a strong proponent for Jr. Achievement and Habitat for Humanity.
Patricia has been singled out by her clients for her ability to identify and analyze the developmental needs of the leaders she coaches while understanding the impact of their business issues. She works effectively and collaboratively with her clients to diagnose issues, offer potential solutions, and support chosen recommendations.
